You may ask how do those toothbrushes and chicken go together. Well if you have a dog and try to brush their teeth you'll understand.
Every once in awhile I try to brush my dogs teeth. The box the toothpaste came in says that I should do this 2-3 times a week. Which is not an easy task and I only do this annoying task every couple of weeks.
1) The toothpaste taste like chicken or so they say. Therefore the whole time I am brushing their teeth the dogs are licking their lips and the toothbrush. This does not make it easy to effectively brush their teeth. I think if they could they would open the toothpaste on their own and suck it right out of the tube. Probably a preferable method for them rather then have me stick my hands in their mouths.
2) While I am brushing Oscar's teeth, Louie, my ADHD dog is trying to lick the toothpaste out of Oscar's mouth.
3) It means I have to sit on the floor and coax the dog to me with a strange looking object in my hand and a bit of yummy tasting chicken flavoured toothpaste on my finger. When they are close enough I grab their collar and shove the well flavoured toothbrush in their mouth.
4) I have to pry open my dogs mouths with my hand and face the slimy inside of the dog's mouth mixed with toothpaste.
5) Sometimes the toothbrush breaks and I'm left with a little piece of plastic with a brush.
Perhaps if I did it more frequently my dogs would be better at it and so would I. On the flip side the toothpaste is such an appealing flavour I'm pretty sure that the only thing they would want to do is eat it.
I do have to say that brushing my dogs teeth is preferable to cleaning well aimed pee out of my rubber boot.
