My daughter has a bad rash and I'm wondering if it is because I haven't rinsed the diapers enough. Perhaps it could be teething or a new food that didn't agree.
I am so close to the end of the Handwashing Challenge, but didn't make it. I used a prefold on her partly because my flats weren't dry enough and partly because of her sore bum.
Things I have learned...
RINSE, RINSE, RINSE...this is harder then it sounds when handwashing. Although flats do rinse out much easier it is difficult to get the agitation needed. One of the blogs I read mentioned a counter top manual washer. I think that would work well as far as getting the movement needed to get the diapers clean.
Do a a few diapers every time. Although I wouldn't do it after every change washing 4 or 5 at once is way easier then 8-10.
Rinse right after the stinky diapers and if possible wash those diapers right away.
Sun them whenever you can. Line drying is the best for the diapers and quicker then drying them inside.
I will be able to do this again if I'm at the cottage or just generally somewhere without laundry.
I have enjoyed this challenge and it has shown me that cloth diapering can be done without a washing machine. I do love my washing machine though.
